Through the continuous efforts of Hangzhou Customs and coordinated multi-party coordination, on June 5, with the official approval of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, the exclusive 13-digit HS code for Chinese matcha products was successfully established and took full effect from June 5, 2026. This marks a major breakthrough in China's matcha exports and lays a solid foundation for high-quality industrial development and expansion into international markets.

The newly established dedicated HS codes for matcha are uniformly classified under the 0902 green tea tariff heading and are divided into two specific declaration codes based on net weight per immediate container:

1. 0902109000103: Other green tea (unfermented), in immediate packings of a net content not exceeding 3 kg each [matcha]

2. 0902209000103: Other green tea (unfermented), in immediate packings of a net content exceeding 3 kg each [matcha]

According to the customs import and export food declaration regulations, effective from June 5, all import and export operations involving matcha products must use the above 13-digit HS codes for declaration procedures.
