The national tea export data for the first half of 2026 was released. Total export volume edged down by 2.5%, while total export value rose by 5.6%, presenting an overall trend of "declining volume but rising value." This clearly outlines China's tea industry strategic shift toward higher quality and moving up the value chain.

Among the major tea-producing provinces, Guizhou performed particularly well, with increases across all three indicators—export volume, value, and average price—and growth rates far exceeding the national average. In the first half of the year, Guizhou exported 2,278.72 tons of tea, up 8.5% year-on-year; export value reached 15.8046 million USD, up 39.3% year-on-year; and the average export price stood at 6.94 USD/kg, ranking second nationally, up 28.4% year-on-year.

Going forward, Guizhou will continue to consolidate its base in green tea and black tea, accelerate the development of the matcha industry chain, encourage enterprises to set up marketing centers overseas, and promote "Guizhou Green Tea" and "Guizhou Matcha" under unified brands to reach end consumers directly. The goal is to achieve a comprehensive output value of over 120 billion RMB for the province's tea industry by the end of the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" period.
