Hefeng is located in the Wuling Mountain area, along the golden tea-growing belt at 30 degrees north latitude, with naturally selenium-rich soil.
The county has a total tea garden area of 395,000 mu. In 2025, its total tea output reached 45,000 tonnes, and the comprehensive output value of the entire industrial chain exceeded 10.13 billion yuan. The tea industry directly boosted the average household income of tea farmers to 48,000 yuan.
Its total tea export volume stood at 10,000 tonnes, with a total export value of 36.354 million US dollars, accounting for 32.4% and 31.5% of Hubei Province’s total tea export volume and value respectively. Its export scale has ranked first in the province for consecutive years.
At present, 15 tea enterprises in the county have obtained independent export rights, and the area of registered export tea bases has reached 217,000 mu. Its products are exported to more than 20 countries and regions including Morocco, Algeria, Tajikistan and Mali.
The newly established large-scale export tea base adopts a "1+N" supervision model. This model realizes one-time registration, county-wide sharing and whole-process supervision, bringing all high-quality tea gardens in the county under standardized customs supervision. It builds a solid line of defense for the quality and safety of export tea from the planting source, effectively solving previous problems such as scattered base registration, inconsistent management and high enterprise costs.
