On January 27, during the inaugural "Representatives' Channel" of the Fourth Session of the 14th Guizhou Provincial People's Congress, Meng Zude, a deputy of the Guizhou Provincial People’s Congress and Chairman and General Manager of Guicha Group, revealed that Guizhou matcha has achieved its first large-scale export to Japan. Hundreds of tons of products have successfully entered this traditional matcha consumer market, building a new bridge for industrial cooperation between China and Japan through quality.

As a global hub for super matcha factories, Guizhou matcha has gained increasing recognition in the international market in recent years. Meng Zude shared on the "Representatives' Channel" that the core confidence driving Guizhou matcha’s successful global expansion lies in four "reassurances": policy , quality, alliance, and creativity. The successful entry into the Japanese market is particularly significant as it represents high recognition of Guizhou matcha’s quality.According to data, Guicha Group’s matcha production and sales reached 2,500 tons in 2025, securing the top position nationwide. Its products have been successfully exported to 54 countries and regions. Notably, Guicha’s European Standard matcha achieved its first large-scale export to Japan, while hundreds of tons of matcha also entered European and American markets, marking a dual breakthrough in high-end markets. In early January 2026, Guicha Group shipped 32 tons of European Standard matcha from Tongren, Guizhou, to Sweden, achieving another successful start to the year in exports and further expanding its international influence.

Adhering to strict European Union standards, Guizhou matcha has transformed from mountain-grown green leaves into an international "trendy beverage," breaking Japan’s long-standing monopoly on the high-end matcha market. Meng Zude noted that Guicha Group has established a branch in Japan, building a stable international marketing network and laying the groundwork for deeper China-Japan cooperation in the matcha industry.

This large-scale entry of Guizhou matcha into the Japanese market is not only a breakthrough in economic and trade exchanges but also an opportunity for deeper cultural exchange and integration between Chinese and Japanese tea cultures. In the future, the two sides are expected to engage in more profound cooperation in areas such as matcha cultivation techniques, production processes, and product development, promoting synergistic growth in the matcha industries of both countries and ensuring the continued global appeal of Guizhou tea’s aroma.
